It is very likely that there are passive recording systems which have been implemented for targets of interest, such as judges, lawmakers lawyers, presidents, executives, police, FBI, etc, etc.

These systems could easily easedrop on both microphone and video for them and their families in order to compile databases of sensitive data which could be used in the future to blackmail them for certain outcomes with regard to certain events such as trials, elections, laws, arrests, testimony, etc.

Considering the parent clause of this section, this should be considered a very dangerous aspect for our evolutionary survival.

The only and easy way to beat it though is to be proactive and cut it off at the pass by creating circumstances which would give such activity less of a moral founding to do so.

Let's just say this, we've all seen the phone cases and the webcams with the physical shutters built into them...that's a HUGE red flag that our private lives are far too easily spied upon, couple that with a retrograde economy along with the implications of the confusion and schitzophrenia that such things naturally encourage, aka bad decisions, and we are just asking to compound an already poor situation, just ask any mechanic...one thing not taken care of properly can start a whole slew of problems, leading to a NIGHTMARE.

These crooks could already have picked and chosen our best and brightest to remove from society like an army targets leaders, power and defense stations first.  I know I have had experience after experience that has kept me down and less able to lead well, which has lead to alot of other people going through similar issues.

Now, the smart guy might interject that nobody would do that to their whole species, but then again, we might not be dealing with our own, per se...who knows?  The option of being open to any possibility for survival would supersede, and I say would because the need to be appropriate should come before that, just in case.
